Founders & Leadership
The people behind Mist Academy’s vision and mission.
Mist Academy was founded in 2023 in response to the growing need for accessible, quality secondary education in the Mbale community. Many students face financial and resource-related barriers that limit their educational opportunities. The founders of Mist Academy believe that education, combined with practical skills and strong values, can transform lives and communities. The school was established to provide students with academic excellence, character development, and real-world skills that prepare them for the future. Mist Academy is built on a commitment to integrity, service, accountability, and long-term community impact.
Our Founders
The school was established by a dedicated group of founders who share a common vision for education and community development. Each founder brings unique experience, insight, and commitment to the growth of Mist Acad

Mr. Paul Wangota
Founder & Director
Paul Wangota is a founding member and Director of Mist Academy. He is a believer in and follower of Jesus Christ, and his faith influences his commitment to education, service, and community development.
Paul grew up in Uganda and completed his education through the Ugandan school system from Grade 1 through Grade 12. After high school, he was given the opportunity to continue his studies in the United States. This experience exposed him to significant gaps between the education he received in Uganda and the practical, skills-based learning available to students in the U.S.
A defining moment came in 2003 when Paul encountered a computer for the first time after arriving in the United States. Although he had graduated from high school in 2001, he had never seen or used a computer. This experience inspired him to pursue computing at the university level. Today, Paul works professionally as a software developer.
Through prayer, reflection, and lived experience, Paul recognized the need for an education model in Uganda that goes beyond exams — one that combines academic excellence, practical skills, and strong values. He founded Mist Academy to help provide students with opportunities he did not have, including exposure to technology, critical thinking, and character development.
Paul’s vision for Mist Academy is to prepare students not only for academic success, but for life — equipping them to serve their communities with integrity, responsibility, and practical skills.
Wangota oversees the school’s strategic direction, partnerships, and long-term development. His vision is to ensure that Mist Academy grows sustainably while remaining grounded in strong values and service to the community.
